Engaging with themes of materiality and transformation, Erik creates
sculptures and installations that reveal the dynamism of objects and
contradict anthropocentrism. Botany, geology and mineralogy exhilarate his
investigation of structure and fabrication techniques in creating a
gestalt. His works, composed of wood, glass, stone, glass, and luminous
inert gasses emphasize the intrinsic characteristics of the materials and
confront the viewer with an otherworldly affect. His ontological
investigation of materials and forms aims to connect the physical world to
the intangible, scientific discovery to mysticism, and the present day to
an ancient past.
